Parveen Shakir was one of the best poet of Pakistan. She was born on 24 November 1952 in Karachi. And then died on 26 December 1994 in Islamabad. Parveen Shakir was a great poet, teacher, and civil servant of the Government Of Pakistan.

Parveen Shakir was so little when she starts writing Poetry and Ghazals, she writes poetry in both languages Urdu and English. Then she wrote both prose and poetry, contributed columns in Urdu newspapers and a few articles in English newspapers. Initially, she wrote under the pen name (Beena).

After nine years of teaching, she joined the Civil Service of Pakistan and worked for the customs department. In 1986, she joins the secretary of the Central Board of Revenue in Islamabad.

Parveen Shakir Married a Pakistani doctor, Syed Naseer Ali. And they had a son Syed Murad Ali. So the marriage did not last long and ended in a divorce. On 26 December 1994, Parveen’s car hit a bus when she was on her way to work in Islamabad. And she passed away in this accident. Her husband and son were very sad behind her. That was the worst incident in the history of Pakistan, Many Pakistanis still love Parveen Shakir and her poetry.

In 1976, She write her first poetry book Which is Khushbu (Fragrance) to great acclaim. Then she was awarded one of Pakistan’s highest honors. The Screen of Performance, for her outstanding services to the contribution to literature. Parveen Shakir Poetry in Urdu is famous all around the poetry lovers.
